The Italian manufacturer has revealed the tires available for the first four Grands Prix of the 2019 season with selections that lean more towards hard compounds than in 2018.
In a desire for simplification, Pirelli will only use 3 colors (white, yellow, and red) and 3 designations (Hard, Medium, and Soft) per Grand Prix weekend. However, the Milan manufacturer has five dry track compounds in its range, identified from C1 to C5 and classified from hardest to softest.
Pirelli has therefore opted for C2, C3, and C4 rubber in Australia, which is equivalent to the Medium, Soft, and Ultra-Soft tires from 2018. The trans brandalpine will then bring its toughest selection – C1, C2, C3 – to Bahrain. Then we will find C2, C3, and C4 tires in Shanghai and Baku.
Some gifts come early. Here are the # Fit4F1 compounds for the #AusGP, #BahrainGP, #ChineseGP and #AzerbaijanGP! (Quick Reminder – In 2019 there will only be 3 colors per race, but 5 different compounds available: C1 is the hardest, C5 the softest) pic.twitter.com/ijoIzO3kqb
