For the second collective testing session in Jerez, the new unique manufacturer in F1, Pirelli, learned its lessons from the Valencia tests last week to present new tires to the teams. Four types exactly, supersoft, soft, medium and hard. In addition, the track in Valencia having remained 100% dry, the Italian equipment manufacturer is prepared to face a wet track, either on intermediates or on grooves. Each team has 30 sets of tires, for a total of 100 over all four pre-season collective sessions.
Paul Hembery, Director of Pirelli Motorsport, did not forget to spare a thought for Robert Kubica, best performer last week with his Lotus Renault R31. “ F1 news has largely been about Robert Kubica's accident in Italy. On behalf of the people of Pirelli, I wish him a speedy recovery. ».
