After five weekends of suffering, where the drivers pushed them to the limit, made them scream down the straights and wore them out with incessant braking and acceleration, the engines will be able to enjoy a little rest. On the sidelines of the only free practice session of the weekend, race management announced the engine changes for the event: no fewer than eleven drivers are switching to a new power unit!
This is the case for pilots McLaren (Oscar piastri et Lando Norris), Mercedes (George Russell and Kimi Antonelli), Aston Martin (Fernando Alonso et Lance stroll), Williams (Alex Albon et Carlos Sainz), Sauber (Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto) as well as the Haas byEsteban Ocon.
All drivers have changed all the parts that make up the engine block, but none will be penalized since they are still well within the authorized quota of parts. The other nine drivers on the grid had already adopted a second engine since the beginning of the year, either by choice during the last rounds or because of accidents that caused damage.
