Mark Webber (Red Bull) achieved the best time in the first phase of the qualifying session (Q1) of the German Grand Prix of Formula 1, in 1?31??257. He is ahead Fernando Alonso (Renault, 1'31 »302) and Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull, 1’31”430).
Robert Kubica (BMW, 16th), Sébastien Buemi (Toro Rosso, 17e), Giancarlo Fisichella (Force India, 18e), Timo Glock (Toyota, 19e) et Sébastien Bourdais (Toro Rosso, 20th) are eliminated.
