The first phase of the qualifying session delivered its verdict: Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) achieved the best time, in 1:37??113, ahead of Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull, 1?37??123). Robert Kubica (Renault), came out late, had the sixth time (1'37"703).
The seven drivers eliminated in Q1 are Tonio Liuzzi (Force India, 1), Jarno Trulli (Lotus, 38), Timo Glock (Virgin, 955), Heikki Kovalainen ( Lotus, 1?40??521), Lucas di Grassi (Virgin, 1?40??748), Sakon Yamamoto (HRT, 1?41??768) and Bruno Senna (HRT, 1?42??325).
