Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was eliminated in Q2 of the Monaco GP. Lacking grip, the three-time world champion saw his last attempt canceled following the yellow flag following Stoffel Vandoorne's error (McLaren) who made the same mistake asEsteban Ocon (Force India) during EL3. The Briton is only 14th on the grid.
Daniil Kvyat (Toro Rosso) took 11th place, failing 6 hundredths behind Jenson Button (McLaren). The Russian is ahead Nico Hulkenberg (Renault) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas). Felipe Massa (Williams) completes the list.
La Team Ferrari dominated Q2. Kimi Räikkönen set the new lap record with a time of 1'12''231, two tenths ahead of his teammate Sebastian Vettel. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) was the closest to 4 tenths of the reference by ahead of Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) and Daniel Ricciardo (Redbull). Romain Grosjean (Haas) took 6th place ahead of Stoffel Vandoorne, Carlos Sainz Jr (Toro Rosso) and Sergio Pérez (Force India).
