The duel between the two main presenters of the season turned to the advantage of Lewis Hamilton during Q1 in Qatar. At the wheel of a fast W12, the Englishman set the best time (1'21″901) ahead of Max Verstappen et Valtteri Bottas. In shape, Pierre Gasly ranked 5th behind Carlos Sainz.
As for those eliminated, we must mention the names of Kimi Räikkönen, Nicholas latifi, Antonio Giovinazzi, Mick Schumacher et Nikita mazepin. A time threatened, Charles Leclerc rectified the situation at the end of Q1 to finish 13th.
