This is good news for motorsport: the French interest in Formula 1 does not decrease, quite the contrary! Canal + is recording record audiences at the start of the 2025 season, proof that fans are ready for a season announced in winter as one of the most exciting in history.
The first weekend in Australia had already been a resounding success for the encrypted channel, which had amassed 1,1 million viewers for both live and free-to-air broadcasts. These impressive statistics for a race held at 5 a.m. French time constitute a record for an Australian GP on Canal+.

A week later, the encrypted channel did even better with the Chinese Grand Prix, which was watched live by a million viewers. This was also an unprecedented figure for a morning Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix, commentated by Julien Fébreau and Adrien Tambay, was won by Oscar piastri, before Lando Norris and George Russell. Canal+ teams will be in Texas this weekend to cover the Grand Prix of the Americas MotoGP, also available on our website. The encrypted channel will return to the Formula 1 paddock in two weeks for the Japanese Grand Prix.

What free-to-air broadcast? It was a poor one-hour summary! The worst thing is that they're going to tell us that they broadcast a free-to-air GP for non-subscribers when it's not true. Canal takes us for fools. I hope they lose the rights.
