Red Bull “surprised” and “disappointed” to be singled out by the FIA

This Monday, October 10, the FIA finally issued certificates of conformity to last season's capped budget. Aston Martin was implicated for a procedural defect, while Red Bull was found guilty of exceeding the budget ceiling by less than 5%. If the legislator informed that it was only a minor violation (-5%), the sanctions have not yet been determined, the FIA preferring to give itself time to make its decision.

An hour after the official communication, Red Bull issued a short press release. In it, the Milton Keynes team declares that it takes note of the “results of FIA review into minor violation of financial regulations with surprise and disappointment”. The Austrian team claims to have submitted a declaration which was below the limit of 145 million dollars of the budget cap, arguing that their “The belief was still that their expenses related to 2021 are below the planned limit.”

Finally, the structure co-directed by Helmut Marko and Christian Horner specified that it “would scrupulously respect” the regulatory process with the FIA, while “considering all options available to them”. In short, Red Bull is waiting for possible sanctions, and suggests a possible appeal in the event of a sanction that it considers inadequate. Also accused of a procedural defect, Aston Martin has not yet reacted.
