Despite the unstable weather conditions, qualifying began at the Sochi Autodrome. At the end of 18 minutes of Q1 Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo), Mick Schumacher (Haas), Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) and Nikita mazepin (Haas) took the door.
Sentenced from the back of the grid this Sunday for having used a 4th engine, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) didn't even bother to record a time. The Dutchman left his stand for a reconnaissance lap before returning calmly.
At the front, it is Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) who set the best time ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Pérez (Red Bull).
