While he was waiting for these qualifications on a wet track, Pierre Gasly (Alpha Tauri) did not see his efforts rewarded. Author of the 12th fastest time in Q2, the Norman will not be among the ten fastest drivers of the day. He is joined by Sebastian Vettel (Aston Martin) and Yuki tsunoda (AlphaTauri).
Like Max Verstappen (Red Bull) in Q1, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) and Nicholas latifi (Williams) did not record a time in this Q2 since they will start at the back of the peloton this Sunday for having fitted a 4th engine to their car.
Concerning head positions, Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) continues with a new best time in front of his teammate Valtteri Bottas et Fernando Alonso (Alpine). Another Frenchman in the running, Esteban Ocon (Alpine) signs the 6th fastest time in this Q2 just behind Sergio Pérez (Red Bull).
