The British GP is interrupted again on the 39th lap following the crash of Carlos Sainz Jr and Romain Grosjean. The pilot Renault attempted to overtake the Haas resident F1 Team in Copse, but the Frenchman was unable to avoid contact. This is the second time in this race that the safety car has entered the track. The stewards will study the incident after the race.

Five drivers have already retired with Brendon Hartley (Toro Rosso), Charles Leclerc and Marcus Ericsson (Sauber).
