Günther Steiner and Haas, it's (really) over. More than a year after the separation between the ex-Team Principal and the American team, the two parties have finally found common ground in a conflict that opposed them on the legal front.
In May 2024, The Italian had decided to take legal action his former team, for non-payment of several commissions for the period 2021-2023, that of his last contract with the team. The legal action also concerned marketing and merchandising, which Haas was still selling at the time, where the image of the former Team Principal appeared. Günther Steiner then considered that the American team was using his image – very popular thanks to the series “Drive to Survive” on Netflix – without his authorization and without paying him royalties.
A few days later, it was Haas' turn to launch legal action against Günther Steiner, in relation to the book "Surviving To Drive" published by the Italian and sold in several hundred thousand copies. A book that uses on its cover a photo of the Haas from the 2022 season, reason why the American team had decided to sue its former Team Principal.
Finally, eight months later, the conflict between the two parties is finally settled. Indeed, according to Reuters, Günther Steiner and the Haas team have reached a resolution to their legal dispute. The Italian manager, who has become a TV consultant for several media outlets including Canal+, has withdrawn all allegations and dismissed the complaints against the team, meaning the case cannot be reintroduced. Both parties have declared the matter settled and wished each other luck. A conflict resolution between good friends.
