At the origin of the accident on the first lap in Barcelona, Romain Grosjean had completed a second Grand Prix after his Baku blunder where the Haas driver F1 Team made a mistake under safety car regime.

On the sidelines of the Monaco Grand Prix, during Media Day, Günther Steiner, Team Principal of the American team, defended the Frenchman as rumors began to emerge about the future of the former Lotus F1 Team resident with Haas.

"I don't know where the rumors come from, so there are no rumors, declared Steiner, in comments reported by ESPN. I think this is the easiest way to make them stop.

We haven't even talked about that, someone has two bad races, there's no reason to start rumors or start doing things, the only thing we need to do is get Romain back there where he is capable of being.

What we all know is a very competent guy who had two bad races. I'm not someone who, if someone is struggling, puts them down. It is unfair. He knows better than us what not to do, not to create another Baku or Barcelona. Can this happen again? Yes, it's possible, it's Monaco. »

Grosjean will have to observe three penalty places in Monaco on the starting grid after the accident in Barcelona.
