Dean Stoneman, champion of Formula 2 and who was to participate in the Formula season Renault 3.5 Series alongside Daniel Ricciardo at ISR, must renounce it following a medical diagnosis. The Briton suffers from testicular cancer and cancels his season in order to concentrate on his treatment, which starts immediately. Aged 20, Dean Stoneman wants to draw inspiration from Lance Armstrong, who suffered from the same illness before curing it and winning the Tour de France seven times. Dean Stoneman had participated in the trials F1 reserved for young pilots in Abu Dhabi last November, with Williams, as a reward for his Formula 2 title.
