Starting third on the starting grid, Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) took control of the Malaysian Grand Prix by overtaking Nico Rosberg and his teammate Mark Webber. Robert Kubica, who started from sixth position, gained two places and found himself fourth behind Nico Rosberg.
