The team Mercedes confirmed the origin of the mechanical problem which cost the podium to Valtteri Bottas in Barcelona. Toto wolff, director of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport claimed that it was a turbo failure, which had never happened to the Silver Arrows.
The Finn had already experienced engine problems earlier in the weekend which had pushed him to re-use the engine from the start of the season, without the improvements which were able to benefit from Lewis Hamilton.
