Colombian Ricardo Londono, who participated in qualifying for the Grand Prix of F1 of Brazil 1981, was assassinated according to national media.

Aged 59, Londono was killed along with two of his colleagues.

Londono had participated in qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix with Ensign but, without an FIA license, he had to hand over the seat to Marc Surer. He was one of three Colombians to have driven in F1 along with Roberto Guerrero and Juan Pablo Montoya.
