Power outage interrupts Bahrain trials

This will certainly be one of the unusual images of the 2025 season of Formula 1, a general power outage shortly after 15pm French time (17pm local time) plunged the Bahrain circuit into relative darkness, and interrupted winter testing. As night falls, it is impossible to drive on the Bahraini track without the artificial lights that have allowed the Grand Prix to take place at night since 2014. This is not the first time that the Bahrain circuit has caused interruptions to winter testing sessions, with last year's sessions being stopped due to asphalt and manhole issues.

"I felt like it was really dark when I came out of the pits! I thought I was going to need to change my visor but in fact there was no light anywhere. If it had happened an hour later, at night, it would have been much more complicated.", explained George Russell to F1TV. The British driver is on track this afternoon after taking over from his teammate Kimi Antonelli, who set the best time this morning.

The half hour (at least) under the red flag will cause the ten drivers only present in the afternoon session to lose time, after a perfectly studious morning which was not interrupted once.
