Cock-a-doodle-doo! The Madring, the name chosen for the Madrid circuit, will have a partially French DNA. The urban track, located in the heart of the Spanish capital, will be built in part by Eiffage. The French company won the tender along with its Spanish counterpart, Acciona Construcción.
The two structures managed to charm the IFEMA jury by obtaining a score of 205,38 in the combined technical and economic factors examined. They notably beat the ACS project (170,09) led by Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez, explains Brand.
The 5,4km track will feature 22 turns around IFEMA Madrid, with an estimated lap time of 1:34. Work is expected to begin soon so the circuit is ready to host its first Grand Prix in September 00.

Madrid is currently the only destination announced on the 2026 calendar of Formula 1, but decision-makers are working towards a potential arrival in Thailand with a street circuit on the streets of Bangkok. There was also talk of a return of South Africa or an event in Rwanda, but both options were shelved for different reasons.
The former are still trying to determine whether Kyalami remains the right circuit, or if a better option exists, while in Rwanda, the geopolitical situation is not favorable. The country is accused by the DRC of supporting the M23 fighters, an armed movement fighting against the Congolese government in the North Kivu region. After receiving the FIA trophies at the end of last season, Rwanda is dreaming of an F1 Grand Prix, which currently seems difficult to organize in a land where peace is not guaranteed.
