While Jérôme D?Ambrosio was in the process of gathering the funds (5 million euros) to secure a seat at Virgin in 2011, the Belgian would have been overtaken by Giedo van der Garde, according to the Belgian newspaper The last hour. The 2008 Formula Champion Renault 3.5 Series would have offered Virgin Racing double the amount proposed by Jérôme D?Ambrosio.
The contract with the Dutchman could be signed as early as this weekend.
