The German of Ferrari could fall back on the starting grid of the United States Grand Prix for not slowing down sufficiently under a red flag during Free Practice 1.

The Friday morning session in Austin was interrupted due to the presence of gravel on the track, the result of a Charles LeclercSebastian Vettel was summoned to the race stewards for not having lifted his foot enough in these conditions, which contravenes article 31.6 of the sporting regulations.

You don't have to go back very far to find evidence of a similar incident. Indeed, Esteban Ocon had committed the same offense in Free Practice 3 at Suzuka following an exit from the track Nico Hulkenberg (Renault). The Frenchman from Force India then had to move back three positions on the grid.

For Vettel, who already only has a tiny chance of a title remaining, the American weekend is not starting off under the best auspices.
