VIDEO – Big win for Oliver Bearman in FP1 of the Australian Grand Prix

Among the six young pilots arriving in Formula 1 This year, history will remember that it was Oliver Bearman who made the first blunder of the weekend. The pilot Haas crashed after forty minutes of driving during the first free practice session. After hitting the gravel trap at the exit of the ultra-fast sequence of turns 11 and 12 of the Melbourne circuit, the Briton tried to get back on track, without success. He lost control of his car, which hit the wall of the Albert Park street circuit. The impact caused quite significant damage to the No. 25 VF-87, but the driver fortunately escaped unharmed.

For Oliver Bearman, who has already made three Formula 1 starts, the season has started in a very bad way and his participation in Free Practice 2, scheduled for 6 a.m. (French time) is currently on hold. At the time of his accident, the protégé of Ferrari held the 18th fastest time, ahead of the two Saubers of Gabriel Bortoleto and Nico Hulkenberg.

The session was ultimately dominated by Lando Norris (McLaren) in front of his former teammate Carlos Sainz (Williams), author of another great performance at the wheel of the British single-seater with which he had already been the fastest in the three days of pre-season testing in Bahrain.
