VIDEO – Oliver Bearman’s crash in FP1 in Miami

Another weekend that doesn't start in the best possible way for HaasAfter missing out on points in Saudi Arabia, the American team wants to resume its march forward in the fight for fifth place in the Constructors' Championship, which it left to Williams in Jeddah. The British now have five more points than their American counterparts (25 pts to 20), who are competing in the first of their three Grand Prix at home in Miami.

In Florida, the Kannapolis (South Carolina) team got off to a bad start, seeing its two drivers finish the only free practice session at the bottom of the standings. Esteban Ocon did not stand out – except for a narrowly avoided collision with Lando Norris –, his teammate Oliver Bearman made people talk about him… in the worst possible way.

The young British driver crashed late in the session while on a fast lap. Arriving at Turn 12, which marks the start of the slowest part of the circuit, Bearman lost control of his car and spun. The No. 87 driver was unable to avoid the walls, which were very close in this section of the track. His VF-25 crashed at low speed, first hitting the right rear, then the front on the same side.

A minor accident, but enough to prevent him from restarting and force race control to bring out the red flag. With only five minutes left on the clock, this also ended the practice session, the only hour of driving scheduled before sprint qualifying (22:30 p.m.).
