Its deletion having been strongly requested by fans for years, it has now been deleted. In 2023, the last chicane of the Barcelona circuit will not be used during the Spanish Grand Prix of Formula 1. Introduced in 2007 and still used since, this chicane was intended to cut speed before the long start-finish straight. However, it especially tended to destroy the spectacle during the race, making overtaking complicated or even impossible.

This season, the organizers listened to the public's opinion and decided to remove this chicane. The drivers will therefore use the original route, which was used from 1991 to 2007. The third sector will once again become a fast portion, with two successive high-speed curves. The arrival speed on the first corner should therefore be considerably increased.
