The safety car was deployed in Brazil on the first lap after several incidents in the peloton. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) was involved in a collision with Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas). If the Australian was able to continue his route, the Belgian and the Dane were forced to abandon.
Another clash a few meters further between the two Frenchmen Romain Grosjean (Haas) and Esteban Ocon (Force India). The driver from Vijay Mallya's team was unable to bring back his car, suffered two punctures and had to abandon.
