According to the German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Volkswagen would not go into F1 although the German manufacturer seemed interested for some time. President Ferdinand Piech reportedly refused the project. The German newspaper, however, specifies that Red Bull et McLaren were likely to be powered by the VW engine.
However, the German manufacturer would indeed see itself in rally, alongside its endurance programs.
