Leader of the manufacturer's standings in the Intercontinental GT Challenge championship with a 15-point lead, Audi Sport has announced the presence of three cars for the 8 Hours of Indy event, which will take place from October 15 to 17. Dries Vanthoor and recent GT World Challenge Europe champion Charles Weerts will drive the Audi R8 LMS for Team WRT. They will be accompanied by Christopher Mies. The other car will be driven by Mattia Drudi, Robin Frijns and Nico Müller.

For the first time, the French team Team Saintéloc, led by Christopher Haase, Markus Winkelhock and Patric Niederhauser will participate in this endurance event. Finally, the Saintéloc Racing team drivers will be announced in the coming days.  “With our WRT and Saintéloc Racing teams, we have a strong package for this year’s 8 Hours of Indianapolis. They are ready to give everything to achieve a good result. Teams will compete with a special livery on the cars that features a “stars and stripes” design in homage to the United States. says Chris Reinke, director of Audi Sport.

A 4th R8 LMS for Saintéloc Racing will be entered but its crew has not yet been revealed, Audi indicated.
