Yet accustomed to the various GT3 championships around the world, Aston Martin had still not tasted the DTM and its “new” formula launched in 2021. This is now a done deal as the manufacturer is preparing to return to the German championship.
It is thanks to the Comtoyou Racing team that fans will once again be able to admire Vantages in action across the Rhine. The Belgian team will indeed enter two Aston Martins as it begins its second season of competition in association with the English firm after a partnership with Audi.
« We are not abandoning our commitment to GT World Challenge Europe, Sprint and Endurance as well as of course our “national” event, the 24 Hours of Spa, underlines François Verbist, director of the team. But we also wanted to evolve in another format of events, short, dense, with only one driver per car. It is a complementary approach to our activity very focused on endurance. »
To successfully carry out this new mission in its sporting plans, Comtoyou Racing has decided to focus on national pride by entrusting its Aston Martin Vantage to the Belgians Gilles Magnus, a former member of the company, and Nicolas Baert.
Aston Martin's last appearance in the DTM was in the 2019 season when R-Motorsport entered 4 Vantages in the Class 1 era.
