Audi Sport names its 2023 drivers

The Audi Sport customer competition department presented this Tuesday, February 21, its list of 14 drivers for the year 2023. Among them, we note the absence of the Frenchman Nathanaël Berthon (3rd in the World Touring Car Cup in 2022) and Kelvin van der Linde, who moved to ABT Cupra in Formula E in 2023.

The brand with the Rings has announced the recruitment of Frenchman Simon Gachet and German Max Hofer (Junior champion of the ADAC GT Masters in 2019 and champion of the German GTC Race in 2022). For Simon Gachet, this is an important milestone that has been reached, even if he used to drive different Audi R8 LMS GT3s since 2017, notably with Saintéloc Racing.

“With this roster of drivers, we are well positioned for the 2023 season and can support customers with the individual strengths of our drivers in a wide variety of programs, says Chris Reinke, head of customer racing at Audi Sport. A warm welcome is given to Simon and Max, who have known our products for a long time. We have been watching them for years and we are happy to be able to offer them these opportunities. A big thank you also to two other drivers who are no longer part of our team this year. Nathanaël Berthon won WTCR victories for us and made a major contribution to the development of the Audi RS 3 LMS. Kelvin van der Linde has won championship titles (ADAC GT Masters 2019), victory at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring (2017) and many other successes with Audi. Even if he gives new impetus to his career, we would be happy to see him again in the cockpit of an Audi R8 LMS in the near future for individual programs or races. »
