Chevrolet won its appeal before the FIA International Appeal. Thus, the decision of the race commissioners at Okayama, who authorized the use of sequential gearboxes on the BMW 320si of Augusto Farfus and Andy Priaulx (read the full story of the affair in AUTOhebdo n°1777, p. 57), has been revised. Sequential gearboxes, which had been authorized for Alessandro Zanardi? driver deprived of both legs and who drove in the WTCC until 2009?, were therefore banned. As a result, Priaulx and Farfus are downgraded from the Okayama races. Direct consequence: Andy Priaulx loses big points and Yvan Muller grabs some, before the final round in Macau. The Frenchman, who is 61 points ahead of Priaulx and 55 over Gabriele Tarquini, will not be able to be caught. He is therefore World Touring Car Champion for the second time.
