Qualifying for the first sprint round of the 2022 GT World Challenge was contested over two rounds. The first designating pole position for Race 1 on Sunday, the second doing the same for the second race. On the atypical Brands Hatch circuit, the no.53 AF Corse created a surprise in Q1. Carried by an unleashed Ulysses de Pauw, the Ferrari Blanche will start from first place on Sunday morning thanks to a time of 1:21.770 from the young Belgian driver. De Pauw narrowly beat Frenchman Jules Gounon (AKKODIS ASP Team), just 0.034 of a second. Valentino Rossi (Team WRT no. 46) took 17th place, more than a second from pole. This first round ended under flag after Gilles Magnus (Sainteloc Junior Team) went off the track.

It was also under a red flag that the second round of qualifying ended following an exit from Dennis Marschall (Attempto Racing). This neutralization confirmed the best time of Raffaele Marciello (AKKODIS ASP Team) in 1:21.370. The Swiss beat three Audis, notably the No. 25 of Sainteloc Junior Team (Aurélien Panis and Patric Niederhauser) and the No. 32 of Team WRT (Charles Weerts and Dries Vanthoor).
