The Dutch driver, seventh in qualifying for the Spanish WTCC round, was demoted to tenth place on the starting grid. The engine of his Seat Leon TFSI was judged to be too light during technical checks. Rob Huff (Chevrolet), Rickard Rydell (Seat) and Nicola Larini (Chevrolet) gain a place on the grid.
The first WTCC race will take place from 12:50 p.m. on the Valencia track.
