The 2021 edition of the Daytona 500 was interrupted by the stewards after a pileup occurred at the front of the peloton shortly after the start of the 14th lap.

Touched by Kyle Busch, Christopher Bale causes Aric Almirola to gape in front of him, who drags different cars with him.

Involved in the pileup were 16 drivers: Kurt Busch, Ryan Newman, Tyler Reddick, Aric Almirola, Ryan Blaney, Chris Buescher, Martin Truex Jr., Christopher Bell, Matt DiBenedetto, William, Byron, David Ragan, Anthony Alfredo, Erik Jones, Alex Bowman, Jamie McMurray and Daniel Suarez.

The commissioners logically waved the red flag. In addition, lightning appeared around the circuit forcing the race management to wait longer before restarting the event.
