Official Lamborghini driver Edoardo Mortara will return to the GT World Challenge Asia field in Indonesia from May 9 to 11.

Mortara will make his return to GT World Challenge Asia at the Mandalika circuit, driving a second Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 for the Absolute Corse team. For the first GT World event held in Indonesia, a field of 34 cars is currently planned, with 68 drivers entered.

Edoardo Mortara will team up with Andrea Anatra, who will make his debut, on home soil, in the GT World Challenge Asia. Mainly focused on motorcycles, Indonesia's presence in motorsport is gradually expanding, having reached a very significant point in 2016, when Rio Haryanto contested the first Grands Prix of the season. Formula 1 on behalf of the Manor stable, alongside Pascal Wehrlein.

Mortara will finish the season driving the same car in GT World Challenge Asia, except for the Fuji and Buriram rounds, which conflict with his original schedule. He will be replaced there by another official Lamborghini driver, Loris Spinelli. In addition to his commitments with the Italian brand in GT, Mortara is taking part in the World Championship. Formula E, with Mahindra. The Swiss driver will be competing this weekend in the streets of Monte-Carlo, for the two races of the Monaco E-Prix.

“I am happy to participate in the GT World Challenge Asia again”, Mortara explained. “We have a long history with Absolute Corse, and I’m really happy to be back with them – especially now, driving a Lamborghini. There’s a lot to learn, especially on my side, as this will be my first GT outing in Asia this year. It’s definitely going to be a challenging weekend, but I’m looking forward to it and hope everything goes well.”
