Yvan Muller is already back in action. The Alsatian will be back behind the wheel on April 12th, at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia, for the opening round of the NASCAR Euro Series. The four-time WTCC world champion will drive the car for his own team, M Racing, which is competing in the European NASCAR series for the first time. A championship the Alsatian driver knows well as a driver and is therefore expected to experience as a team principal… but not just yet.
Indeed, M Racing was due to field Yvan Muller's nephew, Yann Ehrlacher, for the full season in 2025, but the Frenchman is blocked from this first round due to the regulations of the TCR World Tour, a championship he also competes in and which will be held in Valencia later in the season on June 14 and 15. Yvan Muller is therefore playing the luxury wild card for this first meeting of the season in Spain, in the Pro category.
“My return to competition wasn’t really planned, since the idea was to have my nephew Yann Ehrlacher in the car from Valencia, but we couldn’t do it because of the TCR World Tour regulations. So I’ll take the wheel and we’ll see if the feeling comes back quickly enough, said Yvan Muller. It will definitely be fun, but you know, I'm not as young as I was 15 years ago when I was in a race car every weekend. But that's okay, I'm happy to do it, and I'll do it mainly to give advice to Thomas. We've prepared things as best we could. Of course, we have a lot to learn in this series. We come to learn, but at the same time, I hope we'll do our best to get good results."
In the Open category, M Racing is also entering a Chevrolet Camaro, which will carry the number 34. Thomas Toffel, a regular agitator in the NASCAR Euro Series and fourth in the championship last season, will take the wheel of the Chevy. “I can’t wait to start the season in Valencia. My M Racing team and I have been working hard throughout the winter to be 100% ready and in the best shape for the upcoming season, confided the Swiss. For my part, I have been training very hard all winter to be in top shape for this new season. We have carried out good tests this winter in Valencia and on the Magny-Cours circuit, where the team is based. Everything has been undertaken very seriously to ensure a magnificent 2025 season.
