Faced with a Balance of Performance considered too castrating for the Lynk&Co 03 TCRs operated by Cyan Racing at the start of the year in WTCR, Geely and its brand have announced their desire to withdraw from the promotion of the races organized next November on the Ningbo Chinese circuit.
“It is clear that there is no point in involving ourselves in the commercial promotion of WTCR races in China due to the current sporting conditions of the series, specifies Victor Yang, vice-president of the Zhejiang Geely Holding group.
We no longer have confidence in the organization of the TCR/WTCR and are suspending cooperation and support to Eurosport Events and race host Ningbo Mitime Group regarding the Chinese round.
This race is a key event for us to link the racing programs of the Lynk&Co 03 with the performance versions of our road cars. But when the racing cars are not on a level playing field, there is no point in investing commercially in the WTCR race weekend only to subject our customers, our fans and our brand to agony on our most large domestic market. »
Eurosport Events has not yet communicated regarding this choice by Geely.
