Clearly, the Jota Sport team is going through all the emotions at the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup at Brands Hatch (Great Britain). The day after a temporary pole and a penalty for hindering practice, the McLaren 720S GT3 shared between Ben Barnicoat and Oliver Wilkinson finished Race 1… in the trees.
Fortunately, more fear than harm for Oliver Wilkinson. The latter tried to preserve his first place in the last laps against the repeated offensives of Raffaele Marciello (Mercedes) in great form.
The Italian and the Englishman clashed as they overtook a Ferrari delayed before the Dingle Dell bend. Having taken the lead under the checkered flag during the intervention of the Safety Car, Raffaele Marciello was penalized with a stop & go afterwards, transformed into a 40-second penalty, enough to throw him out of the points.
The Emil Frey Racing Lamborghini Huracan also lost its victory in the Silver Cup due to an irregularity during the change of drivers.
