More than 35 years after its last appearance in DTM, which dates back to 1989 with the Sierra Cosworth RS500, Ford is making its return to the German touring car championship in 2025. Haupt Racing Team partners with Ford and will enter two Mustang GT3s this season. Less than a month before the season kicks off at Oschersleben (April 25-27), the German team has officially announced its two drivers, both of whom will logically come from the Ford family. The choice fell on Arjun Maini, a Ford factory driver, for the #38 Mustang and on Fabio Scherer, who is joining the American manufacturer as a "GT3 Junior", aboard the #84 Mustang.

The first test for HRT Ford Performance and its two drivers is scheduled soon, with the official test day taking place in Oschersleben this Wednesday, April 2. “Our return to the DTM underlines our commitment to pitting the Mustang GT3 against the best competition on the world’s most demanding circuits, said Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance. HRT has been a great partner and we are strengthening this relationship as we expand in the DTM.”

“We are obviously very proud that Ford Performance has entrusted us with the responsibility of their return to the DTM, said Ulrich Fritz, Managing Director of the Haupt Racing team.We have proven many times in the past that we can succeed in this series. However, we will certainly have to be patient with the new car. The focus is on developing the Ford Mustang GT3. But thanks to our two fast drivers and the experienced team, I am confident that we can achieve good results throughout the season."
