More than 35 years after its last appearance in DTM, which dates back to 1989 with the Sierra Cosworth RS500, Ford is making its return to the German touring car championship in 2025. Haupt Racing Team partners with Ford and will enter two Mustang GT3s this season. Less than a month before the season kicks off at Oschersleben (April 25-27), the German team has officially announced its two drivers, both of whom will logically come from the Ford family. The choice fell on Arjun Maini, a Ford factory driver, for the #38 Mustang and on Fabio Scherer, who is joining the American manufacturer as a "GT3 Junior", aboard the #84 Mustang.
