A legendary motorsport venue, Mount Panorama is hosting the Bathurst 12 Hours this weekend, the opening round of the 2025 Intercontinental GT Challenge season. Lucas Auer was most at ease on the slopes of "The Mountain" to place the Mercedes-AMG No. 77 of Team Craft Bamboo-Racing in pole position for the event. The Austrian set the reference time of 2:01.276 on his only flying lap.
Auer finished just 8 seconds ahead of Swiss driver Ricardo Feller in his #183 Jamec Racing / Team MPC Audi R0.125 LMS. Another Mercedes driver completed the qualifying podium with Maro Engel in the #888 Team GMR car, 0.284 seconds behind his teammate.
Poleman last year, Sheldon van der Linde had to settle for fourth place this time at the wheel of the #4 Team WRT BMW M3 GT32. Local driver Chaz Mostert placed first Ferrari, the No. 26 of Arise Racing GT, in fifth position, ahead of the Porsche 911 GT3R No. 91 from The Bend Motorsport Park driven by Laurin Heinrich.
The Bathurst 12 Hours will start at 19:45 p.m. (French time) this Saturday.
