Mehdi Bennani in pole position at the Nürburgring

After Pau, the WTCR stops in Germany this weekend to compete at the Nürburgring. The circuit, with its length of 20,83 km, forced the organizers to review the qualifying format with a single session instead of the stage system (Q1, Q2 and Q3). It was Mehdi Bennani (COMTOYOU TEAM AUDI SPORT) who set the best time in 8'50″527 just ahead of his teammate Gilles Magnus (COMTOYOU TEAM AUDI SPORT). The two Audi drivers will start on the first grid on Saturday for Race 2 at 12:35 p.m. Already author of the second best time during the second practice session, the Moroccan confirms his good start to the weekend in Germany.

On the French side, Yann Erlacher (Cyan Racing Lynk & Co) despite his 4th position was furious at the end of qualifying. While the first two drivers in qualifying did 3 flying laps, the Frenchman only had one test on the Nürburgring and finished 1 second behind Mehdi Bennani. His teammate, Yvan Muller (Cyan Racing Lynk & Co) also failed to do better than 10th place. The four-time world champion will start from pole position tomorrow for Race 1 at 10:00 a.m.
