AJ Allmendinger (JTG Daugherty Racing) took pole position at the Sonoma Californian track for the first road race of the season in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The driver of the No. 47 Chevrolet SS is ahead of the No. 41 sister car of Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing), Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing), Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing) and Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports) who complete the top 5.
The first Ford finished tenth thanks to Brad Keselowski (Team Penske) just ahead of Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing). Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) will start from 13th position, Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing) from 17th place.
