Author of a best lap in 22″069, Hamlin is ahead of Kyle Larson (Chip Ganassi Racing – Chevrolet) and his Gibbs Racing teammate Matt Kenseth. As seen in free practice, the Toyota Camry and Chevrolet SS seem to be the most energetic on this oval, since the first Ford Fusion of Joey Logano (Team Penske) is only in 12th place.
Jamie McMurray (Chip Ganassi Racing), Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas Racing – Chevrolet), Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing – Chevrolet), Kasey Kahne (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet), Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing – Chevrolet), Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing), Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick Motorsports) and Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsports) completed the top 11.
