Sam Hornish Jr., three-time champion IndyCar (2001, 2002 and 2006) will be aligned in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the No. 9 Ford Fusion from the Richard Petty Motorsports team, replacing Australian Marcos Ambrose who will return to V8 Supercars with Dick Johnson Racing – Team Penske. Hornish has already played in NASCAR for a long time after his IndyCar years since 2007, without ever experiencing the same success in Sprint Cup as in car. Last year, however, he took 2nd place in the Nationwide Series, on behalf of Team Penske.
