Matt Kenseth won his first pole at Michigan, his 3rd of the season and the 16th of his career, clocking a time of 36. Joe Gibbs Racing was in good form as Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards completed the top three ahead of Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing) and Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing). Kyle Busch (Joe Gibbs Racing) will start in 6th position.
