Matt Kenseth won the Sprint Unlimited last night at Daytona, Florida, his first victory in over a year but also his first in this event which awards no championship points. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver finally overtook Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row), long leader on the legendary American oval. For his first outing with Joe Gibbs Racing, Carl Edwards finished 3rd.

The event was notably interrupted by a Big One on the 45th lap, notably involving Jimmie Johnson (Hendrick), Paul Menard who started from pole at the wheel of his Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet, or even Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs) and who required a red flag for almost a quarter of an hour. A second incident involving Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas), Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway) and Kurt Busch (Stewart-Haas) also caused the event to be interrupted.
