Champion of Nascar Sprint Cup in 1989, winner of 55 races, Rusty Wallace created his own team in 2004 in Nationwide, to allow his son Steve to follow in his footsteps. Last Friday, during a charity event in Mexico City, however, he admitted that Rusty Wallace Racing would close its doors this season. “ During this type of event, we have a good time. This made me realize that, week after week in Nationwide, it's as if I were beating myself up with baseball bats to allow my team to survive., he confided not without humor. My brain is perpetually in motion for an activity that has not brought in anything since 2004... My wife and I sat down and admitted that it was too stressful ". His efforts nevertheless allowed his son to enter the top 10 of the Nationwide three times in the last four seasons, and to enter the deep end of the Sprint Cup last year during the Daytona 500.
