Having undergone heart surgery in December 2014, Brian Vickers was authorized to resume competition by the doctors of the NASCAR and will make his return to the Sprint Cup Series during the third round of the season in Las Vegas on March 8. The Michael Waltrip Racing team driver will be replaced by Michael Waltrip at Daytona for the championship opener on February 22. The name of the replacement designated for the Atlanta event on March 1 has not yet been revealed.
