Victorious, theAlpine The No. 110 A4 GT36 EVO made a truly spectacular comeback this Sunday afternoon at the Nogaro circuit. From the first half of the race, Gaspard Simon built up his effort, managing to get the better of the cars in front of him thanks to optimal management of a tricky track.
Shortly after the start, the 18-year-old driver overtook Nelson Panciatici in his Alpine A110 GT4+, before getting rid of Éric Trémoulet and his Mercedes-AMG, who started from 2nd place. Near the halfway point, it was even Nicolas Ciamin, the leader at the start, who was surprised. Simon managed to make a leaning pass from the inside of the bend, slightly touching his opponent, but he still managed to maintain the lead and place his Alpine at the head of the event.
Just before the driver changes, the spectacle occurred as the race leader had somewhat escaped at the front.Eric Trémoulet, Nicolas Ciamin, and Belgian Lorens Lecertua, driving his Audi R8 LMS, tackled the 900m main straight three abreast. Then in 4th place, Lecertua managed to brake later than the other two, gaining two places in a brilliant move.
Unfortunately for the No. 25 crew, Sébastien Rambeau's spin at the end of the race cost his team the podium. This mishap, which brought out a yellow flag, then allowed Pascal Huteau to retake the lead from Olivier Jouffret thanks to a better response at the restart. While the No. 64 Mercedes-AMG had regained the advantage, it was caught out by a very brief interruption, rewarding the hard work of the No. 36 crew.
