Right up until the final moments of this 20-minute qualifying session, the rankings were shaken up at the top of the timesheets. However, during his last attempt, it was Ben Green and his Ferrari 296 GT3 of the Emil Frey Racing team who set the best time, set at 1'20''893, at the end of their seventh attempt.
After enjoying pole position for a few hours, the Swiss team's driver was disqualified at the end of the session. When weighed after qualifying, Ben Green's Ferrari 296 weighed 6,5 kg less than required by the regulations. This was a significant gap, handing first place to Lucas Aueur. The Austrian had set a time a tenth faster than the initial polesitter.
The Frenchman, who set the fastest lap on this loop of the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, finished this session in fifth position and will therefore start fourth. The driver of the Mercedes-AMG Team Mann-Filter was almost half a second behind the pole position time when the checkered flag was waved.
First place, Lucas Aueur (Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf) inherited the first three points of the season. South African Jordan Pepper (TGI Team Lamborghini by GRT) collected two points, while Thomas Preining (Manthey EMA), aboard his Porsche The 911 GT3 R takes a point. Reigning champion Mirko Bortolotti and his Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 will start the first race of the weekend from 12th place.
This will be followed this Saturday at 13:30 p.m.
